the kitchen chronicles - Part 9

The Range Hood Mantle

The Range Hood is coming... but first let me show you a little mantle (or shelf) that gets placed on the front of the hood.

So here is a quick (really quick) how to ~
Let me start with this… MDF is your friend.  It will always be easy to get along with, never rough and grainy, hardly ever needs sanding, primes and paints perfectly and will never give you splinters.  Love your MDF.
So, start with making a basic MDF box, (we only mitered edges at the front).

Add trim with mitered edges.

Prime and paint and add a little sumthin’ to make it pretty!

Attach it to the hood…. 
(I PROMISE you will eventually see it!)  SOON.

  9. It looks great. I also used beadboard, i love the stuff. Cant agree with you on the mdf though, my experience with it has not been the greatest and i honestly prefer plywood, but to each her own. Good job!
