Clever Shoe Storage

A while back I posted about a common household problem.  Shoe clutter.  I hate it.

Nothing irks me more than an entryway littered with shoes.  Well ok, a lot more irks me when it comes to clutter, but this is one of the biggest irks (?).

This bookcase turned shoe cabinet and the end of the hallway solved my particular problem.  As my family enters through the garage this little side entrance landing would get populated with shoes mighty quick.  I needed a storage solution that would get all the shoes off the floor and stored in an organized manner.

Below is the before.

I shall endeavor to explain the presence of my blender again. I keep it in the basement and it was waiting for someone (likely me) to take it down.  This is not where I store my blender.  “Nuff said.

In my post about turning a bookcase into a shoe cabinet you can see more pictures on before and after.    CLICK HERE TO GO TO POST.  Please excuse the rather primitive pictures from vintage 2009 Recaptured Charm.

Are you a victim of  Loafer Litter? Clog Chaos ? Dress Shoe Dislocation ?  High Heel Hodgepodge ?Sandal Shamble ?  Loots of Boots ?   Ok, enough of that.

I’ve curated a HOMETALK collection of 18 very clever shoe storage solutions, (yet not one of them stores a blender.)

Take a peek,  be inspired and clean that clutter.

Bookcase to Shoe Cabinet

I'm thankful that my entire family uses the side entrance by the garage to enter the house. That way my front entrance stays clean and tidy. But the garage entrance ? YIKES. Shoes everywhere. Here is a no nonsense, truthful look at what it looked like in all it's glory! (No I don't normally make smoothies in my side entrance, but the blender was sitting there waiting for the next person to go to the basement to take it there, which means ME. I hadn't yet brought it downstairs, so yep, there it is too!

I found a bookcase on sale. It was a display model.
It was the perfect size to house all that junk.

It was in pretty good shape except for few scratches. I could have kept it this colour but that particular entrance doesn't get much light, so I lightened it up and added some doors.

That area is clean and tidy now.
The surprising thing is...the kids actually open it and use it.
Hooray~!
(missing baseboard currently being replaced by a nice 7" baseboard)
