A Little Retro

This table is sheer beauty.
Its a great shape and a great size.
This is the (semi) before picture.
As usual I forgot to actually take the before picture.

After, painted a deep sage green.
Use this end table for practical purposes, such as reading, etc..

...or for a little ambiance

Coffee Anyone?

There are so many uses for old windows.  Here is one example of what to do with an older window.  This particular set had no chippy paint unfortunately, but had lots of character nonetheless.

I found some coffee cup clip art online, enlarged them and cut them out.  Also enlarged a font of my choice and cut that out as well.  The frosted glass comes from a spray can.  Great stuff.
This was the result.

Ladies Writing Desk/Vanity

I LOVE making these ladies writing desks/vanities.  This one is more of a ladies writing desk, but can be used either way.  It started as a plain desk.

With a bit.. ok a LOT of work...
some appliques ..

and some elbow grease..
(make sure you have vice clamps..
or you can just stand there and hold it for 1/2 hour like I did)

Layers of paint, crackle, more paint and glaze...
and of course the real beauty is on the top
A collection of vintage Paris images....
Se Magnifique!!

A lot of work... but worth the effort I think, don't you?
Dimensions
38 w x 29 h x 19 deep

Shredding Some Light ! (ha)

Wandering through the local Thrift Store, I came upon these graters. Two large, one-sided graters. So I bought them... didn't have any idea what I would do with them ..but suddenly a light went on in my head....

A LIGHT !

I have a weakness for making anything into a lamp.
Is there anything GRATER ! ??
(ok I'll stop now)

A big thank you to my DBF for bringing this to life.  xox

Dressed Up Dresser

This dresser was bought as is.
Stripped down, broken drawers, missing knobs.
But even in this state, it was beautiful!

Here it is all dressed up

Kinda brings a tear to my eye!

Welcome Autumn

Ok.. So I'm early.
I know.
But I just couldn't wait.
I LOVE FALL!

Ahhhhh.... can you smell the burning leaves???

End Table Gets a Second Chance

Obviously there's no question that old furniture was made much better back then.  These old end tables were solidly constructed.  Great wood. Great lines. This one had seen better days.

There's something about this type of end table that I really love though.  It's classic, timeless. With a fresh new look, she belongs in the best of homes.

And as for my new find... this fake vintage phone ... I know its a phony, (pardon the pun!) .. but I just adore it!

A Light Into The Past - Old Radio

I just love this old radio.
It's got a few scratches but they just add to the beauty of it.
I wouldn't even entertain the thought of painting it.
What to do with this old charmer ?
Why.... make a lamp out of it of course!

How cozy this makes the room feel.
My only wish is that I could turn the dial and hear
and old Glenn Miller tune play!

Drawer Storage

Not one of my own projects, but inspiration nonetheless!
What to do when your dresser has had it ?
Save the drawers, paint 'em up, attach some legs
and use them for storage.
Great idea!

Headboard makes Headway!

This solid wood headboard is a great piece. It had a few scratches and a thick layer of dust.
A little facelift was in order

After facelift

The Chair That Was

Beautiful.
Somewhere under this tired look was a beauty.

I believe you can tell a lot about a person by the
way they recover a chair.
When I took this apart there were 4 layers of fabric and
about a gazillion staples.
(My days workout was had removing every one of those staples!)

This was much better

And it just so happens to go perfectly with this little table!

These tins keep the look fresh !

How many of us grew up with a set of these on our mother's counter?
For those of us who live for retro, I decided to freshen up a set that I found. These were in perfect condition, inside and out... well, all except for the colour.
Cute, nevertheless
I made sure to cover the tops to keep them silver.
This prevents any chipping of the paint when the tops are used.
So fresh and up to date!
