Autumn Kitchen Wreath

I wanted to make a rustic wreath for my kitchen this year and being a huge fan of Autumn and apple pie,  I combined the two.
Autumn Kitchen Wreath 056b
I started with a few items from Michaels and one from Walmart.  A wire wreath, the wooden flat-sided rolling pin, a roll of loose woven burlap, a few fall sprigs and some apples came from Michaels.  The fabric I found at Walmart; inexpensive and perfect for this project.

The fabric and the burlap were cut in strips roughly 12 inches by 1 inch. The fabric was just as pretty on the flip side and I liked the look of both colors on the wreath.

Each strip was tied randomly to the wire wreath.  The loose woven burlap will fray quite a bit while working with it.  That’s ok.  The overall look should have an uncontrolled and natural appearance.

With the addition of a few small apples,  fall flowers and trimmings, the wreath filled out beautifully...  and those stray burlap strings just add to the rustic charm.

I loved this wooden, half-rolling pin I found at Michaels. The wire was tied to the bottom of the  wreath when it was all done.

PLEASE NOTE:  Using any decorative items you wish, this wreath will be beautiful in any room, but  is ONLY to be used indoors.  The loose woven burlap will not stand up to outdoor weather.

Right now there’s some warm apple pie waiting for me… apple

  1. That is so cute and perfect for Autumn. We had cooler temps and rain on and off today and it felt a bit Fall-ish.

  20. I love the burlap look. This wreath turned out beautiful and I like that you used a wire wreath instead of a foam one.

  25. How much material and burlap did you get? Did you hot glue the apples and sprigs or attach them to the wire wreath? I love it!

    1. For the burlap and fabric, the roll and folded fabric that you see in the second picture above was all that was needed, and I still had some left over. The burlap roll was almost completely used up and the fabric is a piece I bought at walmart. I really didn't measure it, sorry.. I should have. Hot glue all your trimmings onto the finished wreath. Thanks.

  28. Love this idea. It looks so pretty. How many of the wire rings did you tie onto? It looks like there are at least 3 rings on this form?

    1. Tied on all of the rings for a full look. Just alternate as you go around the wreath! Hope that helps.
