Old Telephone Table Makeover

I just adore these old telephone tables.
Every time I spot one, I'm drawn to it!
(as a matter of fact I'm out to get a few more)
Here is one that had an old leather top.
I remembered to take the before picture this time before actually starting the project.
Here it is in all it's glory... complete with vintage dust!

I peeled off the damaged leather top and replaced it with some funky
black and white fabric under glass, painted it a mellow yellow and
here is the result.

Sweet !

Plates and More Plates!

I found these little red barn plates at Goodwill. Sometimes its hard to imagine how people can part with such cute things. But that's ok. More for me!

And they found themselves in a perfect spot in my kitchen.

And of course everyone needs the perfect man
to hang the perfect plates in the perfect place.

The not-so perfect cat making sure he does the job right.

YES .. you DO see an autumn basket on my table. I know I'm rushing it a tad, but today the weather was cool and crisp and there's a hint of fall in the air. Ahhh Life is Good!

Decorating with Plates

I rounded up some pretty nice plates from local thrift stores.
Decorating with plates is such an inexpensive way to add colour and personality to your rooms. You can add them just about anywhere.

(Teddy ran away for the next shot)

And one little addition to Jess's room.

Pot-Light

As promised here is my own version of the bucket lamp. A little planter of the right colour... and viola ! Since it is not hard-wired to the celing, the cord drops down and plugs in. I added a little cord switch to turn off and on. It's adorable lit up.
It starts out something like this.

And ends up like this...

How CRATE-tive ! (ok that was bad)

It's coming up on Apple Season soon. I will make a point of going apple picking this year for sure. My mother makes the best apple pies, so I'll pick a few dozen and keep her busy all fall! Ha! Aside from reaping the obvious benefit from that, I'm going to try to score a few apple crates for myself. Some inspiring apple crate ideas....

I just love this next shelf idea.
Although I like the crates in their natural state
these look amazing painted.

I just want this whole setup in my backyard.

Sweet Pink Tweak!

I spent the afternoon in Michael's Craft Store last weekend. I walked in for one thing and wandered for a couple of hours. FALL stuff is out! I love fall!! I eagerly await the arrival of all the fall clothes and colourful decorations ....(sigh)...
But enough about that... while browsing I saw something to add to Jess's bedroom lampshade. So cute! Oh... and its PINK!

Medicine Cabinet to Jewel Box

I picked up this medicine cabinet at a yard sale for $5.

Now it resides in Jessica's room
(just guess her favorite colour?) echhhhh!

There! (slapping dust off hands)
That takes care of THAT junk.
Onwards and Upwards!

Bucket Lamp

Take a look at this little bucket lamp.
It's the cutest thing!
This particular one is found on an online store and comes
with a hefty price tag. (coughcough$100cough)
How simple can this be to make?
Well I'm going junking this weekend and I'm sure to find an old bucket just the right size, somewhere!
I'll make one and find out.
For now, this is still so darling!

Dresser Re-do!

This great dresser was given to me and although it was dated, I knew it could be great.
Here are the before pictures.
Of course I ALWAYS forget to actually take the before
pictures, so here it is kinda-sorta started.
It was quite shiny so it needed a lot of sanding.

Record Bookends

Garage Sale time is almost here for me.
While cleaning out some boxes in the basement
I came across a box filled with old 45's.
Since we needed some bookends for Jess's books ...
here they are.
Some boiling water melts these suckers in
a jiff!!
