the kitchen chronicles - Part 5

Island Transformation Preview

Now on to the Island.  If you've been following The Kitchen Chronicles you've seen the Island was built and painted red for this kitchen. It's been red for almost 3 years.

But now as this part of the kitchen goes through some changes, so does the Island. This change in colour is in preparation for a new countertop, (coming soon).
As much as I loved the red, the black really pops in the kitchen and will be a terrific contrast to the aged cream new cupboard doors.  The distressed areas of the island show the layers of paint this piece has gone through giving off a true aged look.
Now you can help me out with the 'stool' situation.
Take a look at the poll over to the right --->
Let me know what YOU think should be done with the stools?

Thanks

  1. I love it black and I think you sould leave the stools so it looks more collected over time and not matchy. I can't wait to see it all.

  3. the island looks fabulous in black. what kind of top are you getting? might it be stainless? that would look wonderful with the black. I think white for the stools would be a nice contrast. Leaving them as is, they might get lost in all the black against the island.

  5. It looks great Lisa! I would leave the stools the color they are. Painting them would make everything too matchy-matchy (in my humble little opinion...:-)

  6. The red was nice, but the black does pop nicely.

  9. Black legs. Fabric covered seats, maybe a zebra print.

  11. The house we just sold had a black island and we also had the antique'd white cabinets with glaze finish. I LOVE this combo so much that we will do it in our new house. No island though, which makes me sad, but I'll have to deal with it. Great job so far on the kitchen.
